About

Portrait

It was while working on a convertible roof-top, two-seater electric trike project to combat transportation related emissions in 2016, I became aware of the consequences of climate change. The fact that "the electric cars are only as clean as the source of electricity that powers them" motivated me to pursue Master in Energy and Environment at Ecole Polytechnique, France.

Recently, the world is increasingly being powered by variable renewable energies. With growing share of renewables in the energy mix, the energy sector is increasingly becoming weather sensitive. This encouraged me to pursue Doctoral studies (PhD) in "Subseasonal-to-seasonal meteorological predictions for the energy industry" at Ecole Polytechnique (collaboration between Electricité de France and Laboratoire de Météorologie Dynamique).

I am a scientist and an engineer, and I am here to contribute to mitigating climate change by reinforcing our energy transition goals. My areas of research include subseasonal-to-seasonal forecasting, understanding the impact of climate change on the characteristics of tropical/extratropical cyclones and sand/dust storms, and quantifying the impact of climate change on the energy assets.

Some of my favorite books include Start with Why and Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek, How to fly a Horse by Kevin Ashton, The Goal by Eliyahu M. Goldratt, Originals by Adam Grant, Deep work by Cal Newport, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey, Enlightenment Now by Steven Pinker, The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel, Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki, Investing in Real Estate by Gary W. Eldred, Broken Money by Lyn Alden, and The Intelligent Investor by Benjamin Graham.

When I am not doing research, I am either playing table tennis/badminton or hiking/kayaking or sewing.

Open-source softwares

I consider sharing the softwares I develop as open-source packages an essential part of my work. I believe sharing important things as documented open-source packages makes the advancement of science quicker.
Here is a list of all the open-source softwares I have developed so far:

  1. A python package to understand the quality of an ensemble forecasting system in terms of reliability and resolution (developed in collaboration with Camille Le Coz): ReliabilityDiagram
  2. A python package to compute Continuous Ranked Probability Score (CRPS), Fair-CRPS, and Adjusted-CRPS: CRPS
  3. A python package to adjust the bias of forecasts/hindcasts using Mean and Variance Adjustment method: mva
